Ahhhh, Edward Gorey artwork. The American master of macabre illustrations. Scary vampires, dead children, weird creatures, bizarre storylines. He is one of my favorites. He’s just so … blatantly twisted!
I got thinking about him, Halloween coming up and all, and with all the Covid-19 disruption, I dug through my workroom and found a book of posters that I’d purchased some time ago, and set aside for ‘later’.
Probably the season had passed by the time I got it, and I had moved on to other things. Anyway …
The stark black and white pen and ink drawings are creepily simple and strangely innocent of guilt, despite the subject matter.
